Feelings and Calm Down Worksheets for Pre-K and Grade 1

Use fictional situations to name possible feelings and choose safe calming strategies. These Pre-K and Grade 1 activities allow spoken or drawn responses and do not require disclosure of personal experiences.

Where to start

Choose the Pre-K feelings sheet for naming possibilities. Move to the Grade 1 calm-down sequence when learners can discuss a character’s needs and explain a safe choice.

A common mistake

A facial expression does not prove a person’s feelings, and one strategy does not work for everyone. Invite plausible interpretations and offer more than one safe option.

What to try next

Let a fictional character choose a strategy and explain when to ask a trusted adult for help. These teaching activities do not diagnose or treat mental-health conditions.

Practice in learning order

Select the resource that matches the learner’s current skill. Grade labels are guides; the activity and prerequisite skills matter more than completing every sheet.
