Texture Detectives: Draw What You Notice: Grade 1 printable practice with five tasks, an answer key, and teacher guidance. Print on US Letter or A4, or save as PDF from the print window.
Teaching and response guide
- Which imagined surface is rough: the smooth stone or the tree bark?
- Draw a second box showing soft wool with different marks.
- Draw an imaginary animal with two different textures. Tell an adult where each texture is.
Watch for: Two contrasting sets of marks represent different textures, explained orally if needed.
Check the answer criteria for each task. A supported explanation may have more than one acceptable response. These activities offer evidence to discuss; completing a sheet alone does not establish mastery.
