Teaching and response guide
- Begin with: How many beats are in S S R S?
- Connect the response to: Do S S S S and S R S R have the same total duration?
- Ask students to apply the idea: Draw four beat boxes. Show sound on beats 1 and 4, silence on 2 and 3.
Watch for: Accepting an answer without checking whether it uses the material and satisfies the requested relationship or criteria.
Check the answer criteria for each task. A supported explanation may have more than one acceptable response. These activities offer evidence to discuss; completing a sheet alone does not establish mastery.
