Count and Organize Within Twenty

Use the numbered activities in order. The complete practice sheet is an alternative to the first three focused activities and is not repeated in this pack.
Keep the answer folder separate from student copies. Partner A and B cards contain complementary information; give each learner only their own card.

Learning goals:
- Count each object once and state the total. Connect a numeral to a quantity.

Before you begin:
Recognize separate objects; an adult may support number words.

Teaching steps:
1. Begin with: Count Group A. Write or say how many.
2. Connect the response to: Count the collection. You may mark each object as you count.
3. Ask students to apply the idea: Which group has more objects?

Watch for: Counting the same object twice or skipping an object.

Activity order:
1. learn — count-organize-twenty-learn
2. practice — count-organize-twenty-practice
3. apply — count-organize-twenty-apply

These activities provide evidence to discuss. Completion alone does not establish mastery.
Paper size and page numbers are preserved in each PDF. Use the matching Sheet ID when checking an answer key.
